Mahjong Group

Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation and involves a certain degree of chance. It is similar to the Western card game “Rummy”. It is much more challenging than the single player tile matching game called “Mahjong Solitaire”. Mahjong is an extremely fun activity that may become addictive.

Important to Know: Some knowledge of a certain variation of the game is required. Lessons will be arranged if you commit to join the group (ask Century House staff). This dream group is so much fun to play with. Each table will be 3 or 4 players.

Do you want to know more about Mahjong:  Mahjong is a game of Chinese origin usually played by four persons with tiles resembling dominoes and bearing various designs, which are drawn and discarded until one player wins with a hand of four combinations of three tiles each and a pair of matching tiles.

We play with 144 tiles (see some examples below) comprising:

  1. Three suits of 1 to 9 (four of each tile); circles, bamboos, and characters.
  2. Four winds (four of each tile).
  3. Three dragons (four of each tile)
  4. Eight “flower” tiles
