Massey Theatre open house Saturday
If you’ve travelled past the Massey Theatre complex lately, you’ll have seen the “Eighth & Eight” sign. The new creative arts space – which encompasses Massey Theatre, Plaskett Gallery and adjoining classrooms, studios and rehearsal rooms from the old NWSS – is throwing open its doors this weekend so you can find out what it’s all about. Stop in on Saturday, Nov. 6 between 1 and 5:30 p.m. for performances, demonstrations and hands-on activities. You can find a whole schedule at the Massey website, or read more about the vision for the new space in this New Westminster Record’s feature interview with executive director Jessica Schneider. The centre, for those who’ve never been, is at 735 Eighth Avenue.
Long Term Care panel video
In September, The City of New Westminster and Century House Association hosted a Zoom panel discussion “Long Term Care: Time for a Change,” to establish best practices and to assist government and health care advocacy groups in developing a new and more effective approach. The power panel included Dr. Gloria Gutman, SFU Gerontology; BC Seniors’ Advocate Isobel Mackenzie; Globe and Mail columnist Andre Picard; and Jim Sinclair, Board Chair, Fraser Health Authority. You can now see the video of this event here on Youtube.
