Book Club

Hello, reader! Welcome to the Century House Book Club Group page.

What We Do: We meet once a month. A book from the New Westminster library book club sets is distributed to club members. We discuss that book the following month.

Important to Know:  The Book Club started when a few avid readers got together to choose a book, read it, and then meet monthly to discuss that book. As more people heard about it, the group grew.

Recently, we have read and discussed Margaret Atwood’s Stone Mattress, Amy Shearn’sThe Mermaid of Brooklyn, Karen Joy Fowler’s We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, and Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.

Everyone participates in the discussions, adding their own unique perspective on the storyline, the characters, the success of the writer in engaging interest, etc. Not everyone likes every book so the discussions can be quite spirited but always are conducted with respect for all points of view.

We limit the number of members to 12. There is a wait list on file at the front desk.

When Do We Meet?: The second Tuesday of the month from10a.m. to noon, with a break around 10:45

What Is the Cost?: $5 per year

Who Can Join?: Century House members
